BT Community Connections
Project: A community award scheme which supports BT’s digital inclusion programme. It awards free broadband to community groups throughout the UK who are helping or aim to help members of the community to get online.
Our Role: We provide a full project management service including: creation and management of an online application form and judging portal, external communications, daily management of the website and information phone line, award distribution and local PR activity which involves liaising with regional community groups and BT offices, local MPs and media.
Benefits:
-
Improved external perception of BT - 99% of community groups have a positive perception of BT because of the scheme
-
There have been over seven million beneficiaries since the scheme was launched in 2000
-
“By showing disabled people how to use the internet instead of simply doing it for them, we are not only empowering individuals with life skills but we’re also seeing people gain confidence and independence. Winning the award has meant we are actually changing lives, which is an amazing thing to say.” – BT Community Connections award winner
-
Awarded a Business in the Community Big Tick and highly commended in the 'building stronger communities' category
